About This Blog

My parents, John and Helen (Creger) Nielsen, spent many years researching Mom's family in hopes of identifying each of her immigrant ancestors. They conducted their research by writing letters, reading books, visiting courthouses, and scanning reels and reels of microfilm. I'm the caretaker of their research papers.

With their passing, it was only logical for me to continue the quest to identify each of Mom's immigrant ancestors. With the advent of DNA testing, I'm now able to prove or disprove the veracity of our paper research and connect with distant cousins who may have in .
This blog is my attempt, experimental in nature, at telling the stories about our family. The focus is on tracing the ancestors of my maternal grandparents, James Iver Creger and Gertrude Ethel (Blayden) Creger and my paternal grandparents, George Martin (Jorgen Martinus) Nielsen and Ida Maria Larsdotter/Westlund. From time to time, I will also share stories about the ancestors of my children's paternal grandparents, Harl Homer Wood and Ella Savannah Perdue.
While I have learned much about our family, I still have much to learn and am definitely not infallible. Feel free to provide your input by posting a comment or by emailing me at knjacobs@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
Kathi
